A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR MATCHING GRANTS FOR SPACE EDUCATION PROGRAMMING SERVICES.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $           or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2011-2012 to be used by the department of education to award a grant for the provision of space education programming services at the Barbers Point elementary school on the island of Oahu; provided that no moneys shall be expended unless matched by private sector moneys.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 2.  Challenger Center Hawaii shall formulate a plan to become financially self-sufficient for fiscal year 2012-2013 and thereafter, including the use of private donations, fees, and federal grant moneys.  The Center shall submit its plan to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2012.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2050.

Appropriates funds to be used by the department of education for a grant to provide space education programming services at the Barbers Point elementary school for fiscal year 2011‑2012.  Requires Challenger Center Hawaii to submit a plan to the legislature to become financially self-sufficient for fiscal year 2012-2013 and thereafter.  Effective 7/1/2050.  (SD2)
