HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

observing mother's RECOGNITION and family appreciation day.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, the family is a major social institution that provides tremendous value to both its members and society as a whole; and

 

     WHEREAS, the family social unit may be created by blood, marriage, or adoption, and can be both nuclear, encompassing parents and children, and extended, encompassing other relatives; and

 

     WHEREAS, around the world and all across Hawaii, mothers have played and continue to play a crucial role in families; and

 

     WHEREAS, mothers have a unique bond with their children; and

 

     WHEREAS, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or marital status, mothers have always moved our State, country, and the world forward and remained steadfast in their pursuit of a better and brighter future for their children; and

 

     WHEREAS, the work of mothers is of paramount importance but is often undervalued, demeaned, and unappreciated; and

 

     WHEREAS, mothers have an indispensable role in building and transforming society and culture; and

 

     WHEREAS, mothers are our State's innovators, tireless workers, engines of economic growth, and drivers of progress; and

 

     WHEREAS, our State's mothers are breadwinners, community leaders, and pillars of family that have, for generations, blazed new paths and opened up new possibilities and widened circles of opportunity for their daughters and sons; and

 

     WHEREAS, the importance of the role of motherhood is recognized by holiday but one time a year, on Mother's Day; and

 

     WHEREAS, mothers, and the institution of motherhood, is worthy of more than just one celebration a year; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-ninth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2018, that this body calls upon the people of Hawaii to observe Mother's Recognition and Family Appreciation Day on the first day of each month with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Twenty-ninth Legislature of the State of Hawaii calls upon the people of Hawaii to express their love, respect, and gratitude to mothers everywhere; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Governor of Hawaii.
