HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

HONORING AND CONGRATULATING TEACH FOR AMERICA-HAWAII ON THE ORGANIZATION'S TENTH ANNIVERSARY IN THE STATE OF HAWAII.

 

 

 

     WHEREAS, access to a high quality education has a lifetime impact on a student's well-being and is a critical factor in their future achievement; and

 

     WHEREAS, the quality of education rests heavily upon the shoulders of academic instructors, whose hard work and dedication are important to the character development, happiness, and success of each generation of students; and

 

     WHEREAS, Teach for America's slogan proclaiming that "One day, all children in this nation will have the opportunity to attain an excellent education" is a commendable ideal that exemplifies the core American values of fairness and equality regardless of background or socioeconomic status; and

 

     WHEREAS, TEACH FOR AMERICA-HAWAII partners with the Department of Education to provide well qualified educators in hard to fill positions and has had a tangible impact on the academic achievements of students with demonstrated growth in subject matter proficiency levels; and

 

     WHEREAS, TEACH FOR AMERICA-HAWAII not only grants high quality educational opportunities for our State's most underprivileged keiki, but also provides valuable career and personal growth opportunities for program participants, with kama‘aina accounting for nearly one third of corps members; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-eighth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2016, that this body hereby commends and congratulates TEACH FOR AMERICA-HAWAII on the occasion of its tenth anniversary in the State of Hawaii, recognizes its outstanding achievements, and extends to the organization its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success.
