A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to education.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Act 51, Session Laws of Hawaii 2004, is amended by amending section 49 to read as follows:
"SECTION 49. No later than July 1, 2005,
the board of education shall adopt a single school calendar for all public
schools beginning with the 2006-2007 school year[,]; provided
that this section shall not apply to multi-track schools, new century charter
schools, [and] new century conversion charter schools[.], and
other schools designated by the board of education in furtherance of a plan to
improve educational outcome in students."
SECTION 2. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
