A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO THE HAWAII HEALTHCARE WORKFORCE ADVISORY BOARD.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Section 371-19.2, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended as follows:
1. By amending subsection (a) to read:
"(a) There is established within the department, for administrative purposes, the Hawaii healthcare workforce advisory board, which shall include the following members or their designees:
(1) The director, who shall serve as the chair;
(2) The director of health;
(3) The director of the Hawaii/Pacific basin area
health education center[;], University of Hawaii John A. Burns school
of medicine;
(4) The director of the University of Hawaii at Manoa office of public health studies;
(5) One chancellor of a community college within the University of Hawaii system, to be selected by the other members of the Hawaii healthcare workforce advisory board;
(6) [One member representing a nurse training
program; and] The director of the Hawaii state center for nursing; and
(7) Three representatives from Hawaii's [health
care] healthcare community that represent a variety of [health
care] healthcare disciplines. The representatives shall be selected
by the other members of the Hawaii healthcare workforce advisory board and
shall serve two-year terms."
2. By amending subsection (d) to read:
"(d) Members of the Hawaii healthcare
workforce advisory board shall serve without compensation[; provided that
the representatives from the health care community], but shall be
reimbursed for necessary expenses, including travel expenses, incurred in
the performance of their duties."
SECTION 2. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.

Description:
Specifies that the nursing member on the Hawaii Healthcare Workforce Advisory Board (Board) is the Director of the Hawaii State Center for Nursing and that the Hawaii/Pacific Basin Education Center member is the director of the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine. Provides that all members of the Board are entitled to reimbursement for necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their duties. (HB2360 HD1)
