A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO CONTRACTORS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Section 444-8, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (c) to read as follows:
"(c) This section shall not prohibit a specialty
contractor from taking and executing a contract involving the use of two or
more crafts or trades[, if]; provided that, when measured by the time
and expense in executing the contract, the performance of the work in the
crafts or trades, other than in which the specialty contractor is licensed, is substantially
less than and only incidental and supplemental to the performance of work
in the craft for which the specialty contractor is licensed."
SECTION 2. This Act does not affect rights and duties that matured, penalties that were incurred, and proceedings that were begun before its effective date.
SECTION 3. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on January 1, 2050.

Description:
Requires a specialty contractor to obtain a C-48 specialty license (structural steel contractor) or sublicense if the performance of work on a contract requires a C-48 specialty license or sublicense and the specialty contractor does not have that specialty license or sublicense. Effective on 1/1/2050. (SD1)
