A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Ms. Susan Grigg for outstanding contributions to public education in the State of Georgia; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Ms. Susan Grigg serves as the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program Coordinator at Sawyer Road Elementary in Marietta, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, the exceptional instructional practices and teaching methods of Ms. Grigg have yielded positive results in student achievement and contributed to an increase in students' scores in every subject; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Grigg has further demonstrated her dedication and commitment to education by her involvement in Sawyer Road Elementary's Oceaneer Theater Company, which affords students the opportunity to perform theater for their peers, family, and the community; and

WHEREAS, the contributions and achievements of Ms. Grigg have been recognized by her selection as one of Georgia's 2008 National Milken Educators of the Year; and

WHEREAS, nothing is more vital to the future of our state than the education of our young people, and Ms. Grigg has, during her teaching career, exemplified the selfless dedication and professionalism which are characteristic of our finest educators; and

WHEREAS, it is appropriate that this body join in expressing appreciation to Ms. Grigg for her outstanding efforts and accomplishments in professional education.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body hereby recognize, commend, and congratulate Ms. Susan Grigg upon her selection as Educator of the Year; and they express their gratitude for the great credit this fine educator reflects upon the City of Marietta and the State of Georgia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Susan Grigg.
