A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life and memory of Mr. Lamar Mobley; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia and the entire Burke County community mourn the loss of one of its finest and most distinguished citizens with the untimely passing of Mr. Lamar Mobley; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Mobley traveled throughout the country attending trials on behalf of the Georgia Field Trial Association and served as a proud ambassador for Burke County; and

WHEREAS, a native and life-long resident of Burke County, Mr. Mobley owned a local cafeteria with his sister and Quality Dry Cleaners with his wife; and

WHEREAS, a kindhearted man known for his generosity, jovial nature, and love of field trials, Mr. Mobley served as the vice president for the Georgia Field Trial Association and devoted many years to assisting the organization in attracting visitors to the county; and

WHEREAS, a true animal lover, Mr. Mobley showed horses and dogs across the nation and was an important member of the National Bird Dog Foundation, convincing The True Citizen to carry a bird dog on its flag denoting Waynesboro as the Bird Dog Capital of the world; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Mobley and his wife were honored by the Burke County Chamber of Commerce as Citizens of the Year for 1993 for their contributions to the community and fellow citizens; and

WHEREAS, this distinguished Georgian gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens and he possessed the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mobley was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of his life, he made this world a better place in which to live.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mr. Lamar Mobley.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mr. Lamar Mobley.
