A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Hillcrest Farms of Dearing, Georgia; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Hillcrest Farms of Dearing, Georgia, was awarded the 2010 Cream of the Crop Top Producer Award for Milk Production in Georgia at the 2011 Georgia Dairy Conference on January 31, 2011; and

WHEREAS, this prestigious award recognizes Hillcrest Farms as having the highest average milk production per cow of all dairies in Georgia during 2010; and

WHEREAS, on Hillcrest Farms, the average production per cow was 27,882 pounds of milk a year, which is 3,242 gallons of milk per cow; and

WHEREAS, Hillcrest Farms is owned and operated by the Rodgers family and has been in the dairy business since 1935; and

WHEREAS, today, father Billy Rodgers and his two sons, Mark and Andy, carry on the long family tradition; and

WHEREAS, in addition to their 2010 honor, Hillcrest Farms was awarded the Governor's Agricultural Environmental Stewardship Award in 2001; and

WHEREAS, the tradition of excellence at Hillcrest Farms and the Rodger family's commitment to providing Georgia families with safe, wholesome, and local milk is worthy of recognition.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize Hillcrest Farms for decades of top quality milk and congratulate the owners and employees on earning the 2010 Cream of the Crop Top Producer Award for Milk Production in Georgia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Hillcrest Farms.
