RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. G. David Carpenter on the occasion of his retirement; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. G. David Carpenter has long been recognized by the citizens of this state
for the vital role that he has played in the teaching profession and his deep
personal commitment to the education of the students of Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Carpenter has dedicated 35 years molding young minds and challenging
students to achieve their utmost potential through his work in the field of
education; and
WHEREAS,
he earned a bachelor's degree in health and physical education from Georgia
Southern College, a master's degree in health and physical education from
Georgia College, and an education specialist degree in administration and
supervision from the University of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Carpenter has diligently served as Superintendent of Houston County Schools
since 2007 and has led the Georgia Association of Elementary School Principals
as president and chairperson of the legislative committee and federal relations
committee and the Georgia Association of Educational Leaders as president;
and
WHEREAS,
this distinguished educator began his career in 1975 as a teacher and coach at
Warner Robins Junior High School and over the last four decades has served as a
teacher, coach, and assistant principal at Warner Robins High School; principal
at Bonaire Elementary School; principal at Eagle Springs Elementary School; and
executive director of Elementary Operations for the Houston County School
System; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Carpenter has earned many accolades and honors in recognition of his
dedicated service to the field of education, including Georgia Distinguished
Principal for the Third District, National Distinguished Principal for the State
of Georgia, and a GAEL/GAESP Outstanding Educator Award in 2006;
and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of his contributions to the students in this state, it is
abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the extraordinary
commitment and accomplishments of this outstanding individual.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Mr. G. David Carpenter for his sacrifice, foresight, accomplishments, and
contributions on behalf of education in Georgia; commend the positive influence
he has had upon the lives and futures of countless young people in this state;
congratulate him upon the grand occasion of his retirement; and extend to him
their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. G. David Carpenter.
