A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending the Haitian Christian Mission from Crosspoint Christian Church; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Crosspoint Christian Church is located in Conyers, Georgia, and led by Pastor Curt Zehner; and

WHEREAS, during February, 2010, a mission group from Crosspoint Christian Church traveled from Georgia to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, for a week-long mission trip; and

WHEREAS, Crosspoint Christian Church has been working for 35 years with the Haitian Christian Mission in Haiti and, more recently, with two clinics in Fond Parisien, to provide nutritional guidance, evangelism, medical care, and physical support; and

WHEREAS, located approximately 45 miles from Port-au-Prince in Haiti, the group diligently worked to provide general medical exams for 250 to 400 patients each day following the January 12, 2010, magnitude 7.0 earthquake that shook Haiti; and

WHEREAS, after one of the most catastrophic natural disasters in the history of the Western World, the group from Crosspoint Christian Church worked tirelessly, performing reconstructive and general surgeries, treating infectious diseases, such as tetanus and meningitis, and tending to hunger, patient cleanliness, broken bones, lacerations, and countless physical injuries; and

WHEREAS, the group from Crosspoint Christian Church worked tirelessly at a local orphanage, attending to the sick and wounded, cleaning and maintaining the grounds, and providing assistance in the building of two new clinics with functional operating rooms for the orphans; and

WHEREAS, their faith in the Lord provided them with the strength to tend to the victims and bring hope to the survivors by locating and planning an area to construct a soccer field at the orphanage; and

WHEREAS, leading up to the time of the mission group's safe return to the United States, Crosspoint Christian Church has located and directed more than $20,000.00 to Haiti to help in the nation's rescue, relief, and recovery efforts; and

WHEREAS, the courageous and selfless members of the Crosspoint Christian Church Haitian mission trip were led by Wendy Zehner and Alison Gaddis.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the Haitian Mission Team from Crosspoint Christian Church for their altruistic and compassionate deeds for the people of Haiti and recognize their bravery and faith in the face of tragedy and adversity.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Haitian Christian Mission from Crosspoint Christian Church in Conyers, Georgia.
