RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Rockdale County Democratic Party; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Rockdale County Democratic Party advocates shared values of honesty,
openness, social responsibility, and caring for others in the community as its
guiding principles; and
WHEREAS,
the Rockdale County Democratic Party has demonstrated a dedication to the
economic, political, and social growth of the Rockdale County community;
and
WHEREAS,
this outstanding organization, under the dynamic leadership of Chairman Stan
Williams, First Vice Chairperson Elaine Davis-Nickens, Second Vice Chairperson
Carol Copeland, Third Vice Chairperson Gwendolyn Anderson, Treasurer Doreen
Williams, and Secretary Sherri Washington, has undertaken many positive and
successful outreach programs that have helped to make Rockdale County one of
Georgia's most successful county parties; and
WHEREAS,
the Rockdale County Democratic party has worked cooperatively with civic,
education, and religious organizations county-wide to promote a sense of shared
community; and
WHEREAS,
the Rockdale County Democratic Party advocates partnership and teamwork among
all political parties to provide common information and services to Rockdale
citizens; and
WHEREAS,
with a focus on collaboration, the Rockdale County Democratic Party works
diligently with neighboring counties to benefit citizens in the eastern corridor
of Georgia with similar opportunities and needs;
and
WHEREAS, on Saturday, April 24, 2010, the Rockdale County Democratic Party is commended for hosting its second annual black tie GALA to celebrate community service and to honor excellence in education, business, health and human services, government, and the faith based community in Rockdale County and beyond; and
WHEREAS, on Saturday, April 24, 2010, the Rockdale County Democratic Party is commended for hosting its second annual black tie GALA to celebrate community service and to honor excellence in education, business, health and human services, government, and the faith based community in Rockdale County and beyond; and
WHEREAS,
with the theme of "One Community-One Goal," the GALA honors local, regional, and
national individuals and groups who have distinguished themselves in service to
their constituents; and
WHEREAS,
proceeds from this amazing event funds the Rockdale County Democratic Party's
first scholarship for a student from each of the county's three high schools,
activities throughout the year that uplift Rockdale citizens through effective
community service, and meaningful partnerships with neighboring
counties.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the Rockdale County Democratic Party for its continued support of Rockdale
County's children and communities.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Rockdale County
Democratic Party.
