A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending David C. Simons on achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in
the Georgia Air National Guard; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
our nation's security continues to rely on patriotic men and women who put their
personal lives on hold in order to place themselves in harm's way to protect the
freedoms that all United States citizens cherish; and
WHEREAS,
Lieutenant Colonel David C. Simons has served as a guardian of this nation's
freedom and liberty with the United States Army Special Forces and currently
serves as a public affairs officer with the 165th Airlift Wing of the Georgia
Air National Guard; and
WHEREAS,
Lt. Colonel Simons completed a tour of duty with the 386th Air Expeditionary
Wing in Southwest Asia, where he flew 35 combat sorties as a public affairs
officer, and he was also deployed to Gulfport, Mississippi, after Hurricane
Katrina; and
WHEREAS,
he earned bachelor's degrees in business and political science from MacMurray
College and a master's degree in business administration from Golden Gate
University, and he is a graduate of Leadership Savannah; and
WHEREAS,
Lt. Colonel Simons has worked in the legislative affairs arena for over 15 years
and serves as president of Simons Political Group, a government relations and
business consulting firm; and
WHEREAS,
he has been recognized with numerous honor and accolades, including a 1999
Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce, a
Small Business Advocate of the Year Award from the Small Business Chamber, and
was named a "40 Under 40" business leader by the
Savannah Business
Report and Journal; and
WHEREAS,
Lt. Colonel Simons embodies the spirit of service, willing to find meaning in
something greater than himself, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that the
outstanding accomplishments and sacrifices of this remarkable and distinguished
American be honored appropriately.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Lieutenant Colonel David C. Simons for his deep personal commitment to
protecting democracy, recognize his willingness to sacrifice his own personal
safety and comfort to ensure the well-being of his fellow American, and
congratulate him upon being conferred the rank of Lieutenant
Colonel.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Lieutenant Colonel David
C. Simons.
