RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Gwinnett Choral Guild on the occasion of its 25th
anniversary; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
founded in 1983, the Gwinnett Choral Guild is composed of volunteers from a
variety of backgrounds brought together for their common love of music;
and
WHEREAS,
open to all singers over the age of 16, the Gwinnett Choral Guild performs at
local community festivals and patriotic, charitable, and civic events;
and
WHEREAS,
the Gwinnett Choral Group is dedicated to the highest standards of artistic
expression, and its repertoire includes choral and orchestral masterpieces by
the world's greatest composers; and
WHEREAS,
the Gwinnett Choral Guild performs throughout this state and has also showcased
the musical talent of its members at the Biltmore House in Asheville, North
Carolina; the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina; Carnegie
Hall in New York City; the Boston International Choral Festival; the Vermont
International Choral Festival in Stowe, Vermont; and in St. Petersburg, Russia;
and
WHEREAS,
on May 16, 2009, the Gwinnett Choral Guild will celebrate 25 years of beautiful
music, community service, and camaraderie.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Gwinnett Choral Guild on its outstanding achievements and
contributions to the community and state and extend congratulations upon the
occasion of its 25th anniversary.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Gwinnett
Choral Guild.
