A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Dr. Paul DeLargy; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Dr. Paul DeLargy has long been recognized for the vital role that he has played in the teaching profession, his deep personal commitment to the education of the future leaders of this nation, and his amazing entrepreneurial acumen and leadership; and

WHEREAS, Dr. DeLargy was raised in Miami, Florida, and attended the University of Florida, where he was a member of the Gators football team and graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics; and

WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United States military, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans during World War II; and

WHEREAS, he earned a Doctor of Education degree in education administration from the University of Georgia and dedicated many years to education administration as an elementary school principal in Hinesville and Athens; and

WHEREAS, Dr. DeLargy's experience as a collegiate athlete and his love of sports were instrumental in his success as an athletic director in Hinesville, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, he diligently and conscientiously devoted his time, talents, and energy to the University of Georgia as Director of the Center for Community Education, an area in which he worked extensively for years and was honored for his service by being inducted as one of the first members of the National Community Education Association's Community Education Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, Dr. DeLargy is united in love and marriage to his supportive wife, Carolyn, and has been blessed with two remarkable children, Pam and Kip, and two wonderful grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, an entrepreneurial giant in Georgia and the United States, Dr. DeLargy created the teaching model for entrepreneurship in Norway, Denmark, and Sweden; and

WHEREAS, his passion for uplifting the lives of others through education and his unique gift for finding a balance between high academic expectations and genuine concern and care for his students serve as an example for all educators; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of his contributions to the students in this state, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the extraordinary commitment and accomplishments of this outstanding individual.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Dr. Paul DeLargy for his years of sacrifice, foresight, accomplishment, and contributions on behalf of education in Georgia, recognize the positive influence he has had upon the lives and futures of countless young people in this state, and extend to him best wishes for future health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Paul DeLargy.
