RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Mr. Howard J. Burt; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Mr. Howard J. Burt on April 2, 2010; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Burt was born on August 19, 1921, in Dawson County, Georgia, a beloved son
of the late Alonzo and Nettie Burt; and
WHEREAS,
he owned and operated Howard Burt Trucking and was one of the founding directors
of the First Community Bank of Dawsonville which later became a BB&T;
and
WHEREAS,
a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. Burt was an active member of Goshen Baptist
Church, where he served as church clerk for 45 years; and
WHEREAS,
a member of Etowah Lodge #222 of the Free and Accepted Masons, Mr. Burt and his
brother developed real estate in the Norcross area and ran a farming operation;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Burt's memory and the wonderful times shared will be cherished by his
family, including his wife, Jewel Burt; his children, Ann and Danny Kinnard and
Johnny and Kathy Burt; his siblings, Inez and Grady McGuire, Irene Harben,
Winford and Laura Mae Burt, and Dean Burt; his grandchildren, Rick and Melissa
Kinnard, Jon and Terri Kinnard, Kasey Burt, Russell and Keena Burt, and Cameron
and Crystal Burt; and 13 great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS,
he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern
for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he
demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others; and
WHEREAS,
he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of
his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS,
a compassionate and generous man, Mr. Burt will long be remembered for his love
of family and friendship, and this loyal husband, brother, father, grandfather,
and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing
him.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mr. Howard J. Burt and express
their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Mr. Howard J. Burt.
