A RESOLUTION

Creating the House Study Committee on the Horse Racing Industry; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia's economy would benefit from an expansion of the equine industry in Georgia; and

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia would receive broad financial benefits from additional employment opportunities, the investment of additional capital, and the realization of profits from the breeding, raising, and quartering of horses and the possibility of pari-mutuel wagering and training and racing horses at tracks in this state; and

WHEREAS, the House of Representatives studied the issues of horse racing and pari-mutuel betting last year, but, due to certain limitations of time, the study committee was unable to obtain the information necessary to fully complete its work; and

WHEREAS, the financial and other implications of such an expansion of Georgia's equine industry deserve to be fully considered and studied.
