A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Cub Scout Pack 3052; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America, a volunteer organization, was incorporated by Chicago publisher William D. Boyce on February 8, 1910, after learning of the Scouting movement during a visit to London; and

WHEREAS, this year, the Boys Scouts of America program celebrates 100 years of teaching America's youth patriotism, courage, self-reliance, and kindred values; and

WHEREAS, Cub Scout Pack 3052 of First Presbyterian Church in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia, was organized nine years ago to instill the young men of Ft. Oglethorpe with the moral and ethical principles and the habits, practices, and attitudes that are conducive to good character, citizenship, and health; and

WHEREAS, Cub Scout Pack 3052 has 37 active members who are committed to upholding the principles of scouting in their everyday lives and stand as shining examples of good citizens to their peers, friends, and neighbors; and

WHEREAS, Cub Scout Pack Leader Art Smith diligently and conscientiously dedicates his time, talents, and energy to challenging the scouts of Pack 3052 to achieve their utmost potential and represent the Boy Scouts of America program with pride; and

WHEREAS, Pack 3052 is a member of the Cherokee Area Council which is wholeheartedly invested in helping youth succeed by providing the support, friendship, and mentoring necessary to live a happy and fulfilling life; and

WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America is the nation's foremost program of character development and values based leadership training for youth, fostering the philosophy of duty to God, country, and self and a commitment to others through a comprehensive program of responsible fun, outdoor adventure, and service projects; and

WHEREAS, the service to others and their community and the dedication to the ideals and goals of the Boy Scouts of America program demonstrated by members of Cub Scout Pack 3052 and their Pack Leader are worthy of recognition.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize Cub Scout Pack 3052 for its wonderful public service and commend its members for striving to be responsible and active citizens.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Cub Scout Pack 3052.
