A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Alan Kennedy; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Alan Kennedy is widely recognized throughout his community and the state as
the personification of excellence in education; and
WHEREAS,
this highly respected teacher has served with honor and distinction as a
professional educator at Jackson County Comprehensive High School;
and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of his outstanding dedication to academic achievement, Mr.
Kennedy has been named Jackson County Comprehensive High School's 2010 STAR
Teacher; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Kennedy earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia and a
master's degree from the University of Alabama; and
WHEREAS,
he has dedicated 30 years to challenging the minds of students, teaching for
three years in the Banks County School System and for 27 years at Jackson County
Comprehensive High School; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Kennedy has taught courses in advanced placement American history, advanced
placement European history, honors world history, and advanced economics;
and
WHEREAS,
he has been recognized with numerous honors and awards during his teaching
career, including 1986 and 2005 Teacher of the Year and STAR Teacher in 1996 and
1997; and
WHEREAS,
he is united in love and marriage to his supportive wife, Kathy, and is blessed
with two remarkable children, Justin and Taylor; and
WHEREAS,
he is a shining example of the important impact that the efforts of individual
classroom teachers are making on the quality of education received by the
children of this state and it is abundantly fitting and proper that his
superlative accomplishments be recognized appropriately.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body heartily and gratefully commend Mr. Alan Kennedy for his sacrifice,
foresight, accomplishment, and contributions on behalf of education in Georgia
and for the positive influence he has had upon the lives and futures of so many
young people in this state and congratulate him upon being named Jackson County
Comprehensive High School's 2010 STAR Teacher.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Alan
Kennedy.
