RESOLUTION
Commending
Sheriff Robbie Darren Mitchum and inviting him to be recognized by the House of
Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Sheriff Robbie Darren Mitchum has served as Sheriff of Twiggs County since 2005
and is highly regarded by the citizens of his community and state and by local
government officials as a person of unquestioned integrity and dedication to the
sound principles of law enforcement; and
WHEREAS,
Sheriff Mitchum created the Criminal Suppression Unit (CSU) which created
specialized units, trains deputies, educates the public, and conducts traffic
enforcement initiatives in Twiggs County which has greatly improved motorist
safety throughout the county; and
WHEREAS,
his office has been recognized at the national level for its commitment to
traffic safety, earning First and Second Place National Traffic Safety Awards
for Sheriff's Category II and a First Place National Traffic Safety Award for
Sheriff's Category I from the International Association of Chiefs of Police;
and
WHEREAS,
the Twiggs County Sheriff's Office has received numerous awards from the Georgia
Governor's Office of Highway Safety, including the Governor's Challenge State
Occupant Protection Award, the Governor's Challenge State Child Passenger Safety
Award, and First and Third Place in the Governor's Challenge Award for traffic
safety in the Sheriff's Category II; and
WHEREAS,
Sheriff Mitchum has exhibited extraordinary devotion to duty, outstanding
loyalty, fine leadership, and meticulous attention to detail in all his duties,
and his efficient and effective commitment to excellence has been continually
recognized by his peers; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the members of this body show their
gratitude for the unique and often unheralded contributions of Sheriff Mitchum
and all local law enforcement officers on behalf of the citizens of this
state.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the care, courage, sympathy, and selfless dedication exhibited
by Sheriff Robbie Darren Mitchum in carrying out the difficult duties of his
vocation for so many years; recognize the tremendous impact he has made on
traffic safety in Twiggs County and the State of Georgia; and invite him to be
recognized by the House of Representatives at a date and time to be determined
by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Sheriff
Robbie Darren Mitchum.
