BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Article 7 of Chapter 17 of Title 47 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to miscellaneous provisions relative to the Peace Officers'
Annuity and Benefit Fund, so as to provide that a member of the fund who ceases
to be employed as a peace officer shall have a duty to so notify the retirement
fund immediately; to provide for a cessation of membership; to repeal
conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Article
7 of Chapter 17 of Title 47 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to miscellaneous provisions relative to the Peace Officers' Annuity and Benefit
Fund, is amended by adding a new Code section to read as follows:
"47-17-105.
If
at any time a member of the fund undergoes a change of employment to a position
that does not qualify the member as a 'peace officer' as such term is defined in
this chapter, or if his or her job description changes in a manner that is
inconsistent with such definition, such member shall have an affirmative duty to
notify the board of such change immediately. The board is not authorized to
accept membership dues from any such member or to pay benefits calculated on
service after such a change of employment or job
description."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
