BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
abolish the office of elected county surveyor of Henry County; to provide for
the appointment of a county surveyor; to provide for contingent effective dates;
to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
(a)
Pursuant to the authority of Code Section 36-7-2.1 of the Official Code of
Georgia Annotated, the office of elected county surveyor of Henry County is
abolished.
(b) The Board of Commissioners of Henry County shall appoint a county surveyor. The county surveyor shall be appointed for an indefinite term and shall serve at the pleasure of the Board of Commissioners. A person appointed county surveyor shall possess the qualifications specified by paragraph (1) of subsection (b) of Code Section 36-7-2 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated.
(b) The Board of Commissioners of Henry County shall appoint a county surveyor. SECTION
2.
(a)
This Act shall become effective upon its approval by the Governor or upon its
becoming law without such approval, except as otherwise provided by subsection
(b) of this section.
(b) If there is an elected surveyor of Henry County holding office on the date this Act is approved by the Governor or becomes law without such approval, then this Act shall become effective upon the expiration of the current term of office of the surveyor.

SECTION
3.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
