A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT


To amend Code Section 50-18-72 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to exemptions to requirements for disclosure of public records, so as to provide that public disclosure shall not be required for certain personal contact information of individuals obtained by a local government; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Code Section 50-18-72 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to exemptions to requirements for disclosure of public records, is amended by adding a new paragraph to subsection (a) to read as follows:
"(11.4) Records that would reveal an individual's name, home address, home telephone number, or personal e-mail address obtained by a local government in the course of such individual applying for, inquiring into, or receiving local government services or inquiring into or participating in local government programs. For example, but without intending to limit the generality of the foregoing statement, water and sewer services, library memberships, neighborhood watch programs, crime watch newsletters, and zoning applications;"

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
