A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT


To amend Part 1 of Article 1 of Chapter 2 of Title 8 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to general provisions relative to buildings generally, so as to provide that no building code shall include a requirement that fire sprinklers be installed in a single-family dwelling or a residential building containing no more than two dwelling units; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Part 1 of Article 1 of Chapter 2 of Title 8 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to general provisions relative to buildings generally, is amended by adding a new Code section to read as follows:
"8-2-4.
Neither the state building code nor any building code adopted by a political subdivision of the state shall include a requirement that fire sprinklers be installed in a single-family dwelling or a residential building that contains no more than two dwelling units."

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
