Summary

A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Title 48 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to revenue and taxation, so as to provide for a local option sales and use tax for local community support of economic development and quality of life; to establish special districts; to provide for legislative findings and intent; to provide for definitions, procedures, conditions, and limitations for the imposition, collection, disbursement, and termination of the tax; to provide for powers, duties, and authority of the state revenue commissioner; to change certain provisions regarding the ceiling on local sales and use taxes; to change certain provisions regarding aggregate limitations on excise taxes and sales and use taxes; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
