AN ACT CONCERNING WORKERS' COMPENSATION SETTLEMENTS AND INSURERS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 31-293 of the general statutes be amended to prohibit a workers' compensation insurance carrier from altering or refusing to renew an employer's policy if such employer has settled a claim against a third party which has been reduced by one-third pursuant to said section unless such insurance carrier brings a subrogation action against such third party.
Statement of Purpose:
To prevent workers' compensation insurers from penalizing employers for settling certain claims.
