AN ACT CONCERNING VETERANS' LICENSE PLATE FEES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. Subsection (o) of section 14-49 of the 2014 supplement to the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2014):

(o) No registration fee shall be charged in respect to any motor vehicle owned by a municipality, as defined in section 7-245, any other governmental agency or a military agency and used exclusively for the conduct of official business. No registration fee shall be charged for any motor vehicle owned by or leased to a transit district and used exclusively to provide public transportation. No fee shall be charged for the registration of ambulances owned by hospitals or any nonprofit civic organization approved by the commissioner, but a fee of twenty dollars shall be charged for the inspection of any such ambulance. No fee shall be charged for the registration of fire department apparatus as provided by section 14-19. No registration fee shall be charged to a veteran, as defined in subsection (a) of section 27-103, or a disabled veteran, as defined in section 14-254, residing in this state for the registration of three passenger, camper or passenger and commercial motor vehicles leased or owned by such veteran in any registration year, provided such vehicles shall not be used for hire. No registration fee shall be charged for any motor vehicle leased to an agency of this state on or after June 4, 1982.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:
