AN ACT CONCERNING WAIVING AUTOMATIC OVERDRAFT PROTECTION ON DEBIT CARD PURCHASES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 36a-303 of the general statutes be amended to require Connecticut banks and credit unions to offer customers the option of waiving overdraft fees or penalties incurred on a debit card purchase in exchange for denying the purchase.

Statement of Purpose:

To give customers of Connecticut banks and credit unions the option of avoiding overdraft fees or penalties on a debit card purchase.
