AN ACT ESTABLISHING A SENIOR CITIZEN VOLUNTEER SERVICE PROPERTY TAX CREDIT.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 203 of the general statutes be amended to require municipalities to provide a property tax credit to senior citizens who volunteer in the municipality in which they reside. Such credit shall be awarded on a sliding scale based on the number of hours volunteered, provided no such credit shall exceed two thousand dollars.

Statement of Purpose:

To incentivize senior citizens to volunteer in their community by providing property tax relief.
