AN ACT CONCERNING COURT AUTHORITY TO TEMPORARILY ORDER THAT A PERSON TRANSFER HIS OR HER FIREARMS UPON THE ISSUANCE OF A RESTRAINING ORDER, CIVIL PROTECTION ORDER OR FAMILY VIOLENCE PROTECTIVE ORDER AGAINST SUCH PERSON.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That sections 46b-15, 46b-16a and 46b-38c of the general statutes be amended to provide that a court may, upon the issuance of a restraining order, civil protection order or family violence protective, also order that the respondent temporarily transfer his or her firearms, in accordance with section 29-36k of the general statutes, to a person who is eligible to possess such firearms for a period of time not to exceed fourteen days.

Statement of Purpose:

To provide a court with the authority to enter an order concerning a respondent's temporary transfer of firearms upon the issuance of a restraining order, civil protection order or family violence protective order against such respondent.
