AN ACT PROHIBITING INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION FROM REQUIRING STUDENTS TO PURCHASE A NEW EDITION OF A TEXTBOOK WITHIN THREE YEARS OF THE DATE OF INITIAL PUBLICATION.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 10a of the general statutes be amended to prohibit an institution of higher education in this state from requiring students to purchase a new edition of a college textbook within three years of the date of the textbook's initial publication.

Statement of Purpose:

To prohibit requiring college students to purchase new editions of textbooks any sooner than three years following the date of a textbook's initial publication.
