AN ACT CONCERNING CERTAIN REVISIONS TO CONNECTICUT'S ANIMAL IMPORTATION STATUTE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to exclude from the definition of "animal importer' any person who adopts a cat or dog while such animal is still out of state and to reduce the frequency of required in-state veterinary examinations of imported cats and dogs and to require the micro-chipping of imported cats and dogs prior to their sale or adoption and to clarify the disposition of dogs and cats imported in violation of any provision of the general statutes.

Statement of Purpose:

To make certain amendments to Connecticut's animal importation statute in order to protect public health and animal welfare while reducing unnecessary financial burdens on animal rescuers.
