AN ACT CONCERNING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR RECIPIENTS OF TEMPORARY FAMILY ASSISTANCE BENEFITS UNDER THE JOBS FIRST PROGRAM.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 17b-688c and 17b-688i of the general statutes, the Commissioner of Social Services and the Labor Commissioner shall permit a recipient of temporary family assistance who has not earned a high school diploma or its equivalent to attend educational courses to satisfy the first twenty hours of work experience or employment, provided the state complies with federal work participation requirements for the employment services program.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:
