AN ACT CONCERNING EMPLOYERS USING CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS PRIOR TO A CONDITIONAL OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT TO THE PROSPECTIVE EMPLOYEE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to prevent an employer from inquiring about a prospective employee's criminal background until the applicant has been deemed otherwise qualified for the position and a conditional offer of employment has been made.
Statement of Purpose:
To require employers wait until a job has been offered to a prospective employee prior to inquiring about such prospective employee's criminal background.
