AN ACT PROHIBITING PUBLIC ASSISTANCE FOR THOSE WHO ABANDON RESIDENCY.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 17b of the general statutes be amended to require that any recipient of public assistance who is absent from the state for more than thirty days loses public assistance and that such absence establishes a rebuttable presumption of abandonment of Connecticut residency.

Statement of Purpose:

To detect and stop fraud in the state's social services programs.
