AN ACT CONCERNING PAYMENT OF FINANCE CHARGES INCURRED AS A RESULT OF FRAUDULENT USE OF A CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT BY A THIRD PARTY.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That title 36a of the general statutes be amended to prohibit banks from requiring customers whose credit card accounts are under investigation pursuant to claims of fraudulent use by a third party to pay finance charges incurred as a result of such fraudulent use prior to the completion of such investigation.
Statement of Purpose:
To prevent banks from forcing customers whose credit card accounts have been fraudulently used from paying finance charges incurred as a result of such fraudulent use pending the outcome of a fraud investigation.
