AN ACT CONCERNING CHILD ENDANGERMENT WHILE OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF INTOXICATING LIQUOR OR DRUGS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to increase penalties for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs to include second degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle and second degree assault with a motor vehicle when the crime involves passengers who are children under sixteen years of age or causes the serious physical injury or death of a child under sixteen years of age.

Statement of Purpose:

To protect children from individuals who operate motor vehicles under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs.
