AN ACT CONCERNING AUTHORITY FOR MUNICIPALITIES TO EXTEND THEIR BUDGET ADOPTION PROCESSES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (Effective from passage) Notwithstanding the provisions of title 7 of the general statutes, chapters 164, 170 and 204 of the general statutes, and any special act, municipal charter or home rule ordinance, a municipality may extend its budget adoption process for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2019. Such extended budget adoption process may include, but need not be limited to, any applicable executive presentation of a proposed budget, public hearing, fiscal authority action, publication, referendum or final budget adoption, provided such budget adoption process commences not later than June 30, 2018. For the purposes of this section, "municipality" has the same meaning as provided in section 7-401 of the general statutes.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:
