AN ACT AUTHORIZING FIREFIGHTERS TO CONDUCT CHARITABLE FUNDRAISING BOOT DRIVES ON STATE HIGHWAYS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2013) Notwithstanding any provision of section 14-298 of the general statutes or any regulation adopted thereunder, the Office of the State Traffic Administration shall, at the request of a local traffic authority of a municipality, issue a special event permit to allow members of the fire department of such municipality to use a state highway, other than a limited access highway, to collect donations for charitable purposes.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose:

To allow firefighters the ability to use state highways to conduct fundraising boot drives.
