AN ACT CONCERNING THE TERMS OF THE STATE POET LAUREATE AND THE STATE TROUBADOUR.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. Section 3-110f of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2018):

The [Department] Commissioner of Economic and Community Development, with recommendations of the Culture and Tourism Advisory Committee, [may appoint] shall designate, every three years, a state poet laureate. The commissioner may fill any vacancy by appointment for the unexpired portion of the term vacated.

Sec. 2. Section 3-110h of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2018):

There shall be an official state troubadour. The [Department] Commissioner of Economic and Community Development shall [biennially] designate, every three years, a troubadour to serve in the position. The commissioner may fill any vacancy by appointment for the unexpired portion of the term vacated.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:
