AN ACT COMPENSATING HOSPITALS FOR FREE CARE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 17b of the general statutes be amended to (1) provide payments to hospitals that provide free care to indigent persons who do not have health coverage under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, P.L. 111-148, and (2) require the Commissioner of Social Services to seek federal approval for matching funds for such payments.

Statement of Purpose:

To reimburse hospitals for uncompensated care provided to uninsured people.
