AN ACT CONCERNING THE PLACEMENT OF SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS ON MARRIAGE LICENSES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 7-42 of the general statutes be amended to provide that no registrar shall include the Social Security number of a party to a marriage on the marriage license until such time as the marriage license is returned to the office of the issuing registrar for filing purposes.

Statement of Purpose:

To protect sensitive personal information by restricting the release of Social Security numbers on marriage licenses.
