AN ACT ESTABLISHING A DEDUCTION UNDER THE PERSONAL INCOME TAX FOR INTEREST PAID ON STUDENT LOANS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 229 of the general statutes be amended to establish a deduction under the personal income tax for the amount of student loan interest paid by the taxpayer to the lender.

Statement of Purpose:

To provide relief to Connecticut residents from student loan debts by establishing a deduction under the personal income tax for the amount of student loan interest paid.
