AN ACT CONCERNING SUMMER SCHOOL FUNDING.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 10-265g of the general statutes be amended to provide for summer reading programs in New Haven for children enrolled in kindergarten who are determined by their teachers to need additional reading and instruction, and to require students in grades one to three who are determined to be substantially deficient in reading, based on the May administration of the Developmental Reading Assessment, to attend summer school.

Statement of Purpose:

To provide additional funding for summer school.
