AN ACT ESTABLISHING AN ALL-TERRAIN DIVISION WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That registration fees for all-terrain vehicles (ATV) shall be increased and that sixty per cent of such increase be transferred to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the establishment and operation of an ATV Division within DEP; that such division shall create and maintain ATV trails, assist in ATV law enforcement and fund grants and related activities including safety and education classes for ATVers; that forty per cent of such increase shall be deposited in the General Fund to offset any projected deficit for the current fiscal year, provided if no deficit exists at the close of such fiscal year, such increase shall be transferred to DEP's ATV Division; that a five dollar land purchase fee shall be imposed on each ATV registration, the proceeds of which shall be used by DEP to purchase land specifically for ATVers.
Statement of Purpose:
To establish an ATV division within the Department of Environmental Protection.
