AN ACT CONCERNING ORIGINAL PUBLIC RECORDS RETAINED ELECTRONICALLY.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That sections 7-109, 11-8 and 11-8a of the general statutes be amended to provide that the public records administrator of any municipality may approve the disposal of an original public record having a retention period of more than ten years or having permanent or archival value, provided such record is reformatted on a digital imaging system and retained electronically.
Statement of Purpose:
To allow municipalities to dispose of paper or physical copies of public records after ten years provided such records are maintained electronically.
