An act to amend Section 5021 of the Public Resources Code, relating to historical resources.

Existing law establishes the State Historical Resources Commission and the California Register of Historical Resources. Existing law requires the Department of Parks and Recreation to consider all recommendations for registration made by the commission, and requires the department to register, as state historical landmarks or points of historical interest, those buildings, structures, sites, or places that the department deems to be important historical resources, as specified.
This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to these provisions.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 5021 of the Public Resources Code is amended to read:

5021.
 (a) The department shall consider all recommendations for registration made by the commission, and shall register, as state historical landmarks, those buildings, structures, sites, or places which that the department deems to be important historical resources and shall register, as points of historical interest, those buildings, structures, sites, or places which that the department deems to be historical resources of sufficient historical interest to qualify for the placement of signs pursuant to Section 5022.5. The commission shall maintain a register which that shall identify by number and description such those historical landmarks and points of historical interest.

(b) The department may publish results of office and field archaeological investigation annually and shall issue additional publications, such as detailed site reports and area resource reports, as necessary, to inform the public and educational institutions.
