   An act to add Section 33126.3 to the Education Code, relating to
school districts.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 2361, as introduced, Pan. School districts: school
accountability report card: visual and performing arts.
   The Classroom Instructional Improvement and Accountability Act
requires the governing board of each school district maintaining an
elementary or secondary school to develop and cause to be implemented
for each school in the district a school accountability report card
that includes assessments of various school conditions.
   This bill would encourage a school to include in the school
accountability report card the number of visual and performing arts
classes offered in the school district and at the schoolsite, the
amount of time devoted to visual and performing arts instruction, the
number of pupils enrolled in visual and performing arts classes, and
the number of full-time equivalent teaching positions in the visual
and performing arts.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  Section 33126.3 is added to the Education Code, to
read:
   33126.3.  A school is encouraged to include in its school
accountability report card all of the following information:
   (a) The number of visual and performing arts classes offered in
the school district and at the schoolsite.
   (b) The amount of time devoted to visual and performing arts
instruction.
   (c) The number of pupils enrolled in visual and performing arts
classes.
   (d) The number of full-time equivalent teaching positions in the
visual and performing arts.
