A joint resolution
Designating the portion of historic united states route 66 that is located between seligman, arizona and kingman, arizona as the "hualapai veterans highway" in honor of hualapai veterans.

Whereas, Native Americans have served with honor and distinction in the United States armed forces and have defended the United States of America for more than two hundred years; and
Whereas, Native Americans have served in wars involving the United States from Valley Forge to the hostilities in Afghanistan and Iraq; and
Whereas, Native Americans have served in the armed forces with the highest record of military service of any group in the United States; and
Whereas, the courage, determination and fighting spirit of Native Americans have strengthened and continue to strengthen the United States, including the United States armed forces; and
Whereas, Native Americans have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the United States, even in times when Native Americans were not citizens of the United States; and
Whereas, members of the Hualapai Tribe valiantly served in World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War, and many serve in the United States armed forces today; and
Whereas, the section of historic United States Route 66 that is located between Seligman and Kingman runs through Peach Springs, Arizona, the capital of the Hualapai Tribe.
Therefore
Be it resolved by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
1. That, notwithstanding section 41-836, Arizona Revised Statutes, the portion of historic United States Route 66 that is located between Seligman, Arizona and Kingman, Arizona be designated the "Hualapai Veterans Highway".
2. That the Arizona Department of Transportation approve, place and maintain appropriate signage to identify the Hualapai Veterans Highway.
3. That the Secretary of State transmit copies of this Joint Resolution to the Director of the Arizona Department of Transportation and the Chairperson of the Hualapai Tribal Council.
