HOUSE BILL 2375

 

 

 

 

An Act

 

amending title 9, chapter 4, article 8, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 9-500.50; amending title 11, chapter 2, article 4, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 11-269.29; relating to local government powers.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Title 9, chapter 4, article 8, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 9-500.50, to read:

START_STATUTE9-500.50. Guaranteed income program; prohibition; definition

A. A municipality may not establish, adopt, enforce or maintain any ordinance, order or rule that has the purpose or effect of making payments to persons as part of a guaranteed income program.

B. A municipality may not interpret or apply a law of general application in a manner that conflicts with subsection a of this section.

C. For the purposes of this section, "guaranteed income program":

1. Means any program where persons are provided with regular, periodic cash payments that are unearned and that may be used for any purpose.

2. Does not include a program in which a person is required to perform work or attend training. END_STATUTE

Sec. 2. Title 11, chapter 2, article 4, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 11-269.29, to read:

START_STATUTE11-269.29. Guaranteed income program; prohibition; definition
